Homework for 11/3
- Read Christine Oslowski's essay in the Text-Wrestling Book (450-454).
- Without using any sources, write a quick initial draft of your essay; no more than one page. Don't quote anything: in the first paragraph, introduce the issue, then move on to briefly characterize the conversation and summarize the various points of view, describe in your own words what perspectives you think have been neglected in the conversation, and offer your conclusions, thoughts, or suggestions for what needs to be done. Think of this as a sort of outline of your assertions; it'll likely be at least four paragraphs long, although the paragraphs will be short -- perhaps even only two or three sentences each.
- Start doing library research for your annotated bibliography, which I'll ask you to bring to conferences next week. You should find at least four additional sources beyond what you found for your homework today; at least two of them have to be physical print publications (like ones that you actually touch) from the library. In the annotated bibliography, I'll ask you to cite the source, summarize what it says, and -- most importantly -- evaluate it. We'll go into more detail about this on Thursday.
